Draw It! Art club

I think making art is much easier when you're not doing it alone.

A few years ago, a friend and I started meeting to draw together. We'd bring our sketchbooks to parks and coffee shops, and little by little more people joined us. Somewhere along the way I realized that what I loved most wasn't just drawing—it was creating a reason for people to gather around creativity.

When I started running the club on my own, I wanted each meeting to feel like more than an open sketch session. I began planning little creative adventures: drawing unusual characters, inventing stories, making zines, sketching portraits, creating collages, exploring color around the city during Color Hunting, celebrating holidays with playful prompts, or simply slowing down over tea and cookies.

I don't believe creativity has to be serious to be meaningful. Some of our best drawings happen because someone laughs, tries something they've never done before, or lets go of the idea that art has to be perfect.

Today Draw It! meets in our cozy Pioneer Square studio. Every gathering is different, but the goal is always the same: to make creativity feel welcoming, inspiring, and just a little easier to return to.
